Scapegoating
People ask me how can people be so misguided with respect to Trump's popularity on social media and at the polls. I believe the success of Trump's message is rooted in our deepest fears and our desire for easy answers. He tells just enough truth to make us listen and spews just enough hate to touch a nerve. Some people are resistant to the part of themselves that hates.
Some people embrace it. Trump conflates a small group of bad men with a large group of ordinary people. We [Americans, Westerners, "ordinary people"] have real enemies. Muslim women, mexican working men supporting their families, and children of any race are not our enemies.
